Synopsis
A perceived 'male' teenage student, named Yuuto, enters an all boy's junior high school, and immediately wants to join the school's exciting, vibrant Cheer Club. He was motivated to do so by reading a manga about a famous all-male cheer squad, and wants to experience the kind of thrill and excitement that is part of the cheer experience. When Yuuto attends the Junior High School's Cheer Club, the Glittery Yell for the very first time, he expects that the entire cheer squad would be made up of boys, just like in the manga. However, much to his surprise, all the team members are seemingly teenage girls, dressed in girl's cheer costumes, and presenting as female cheerleaders. Yuuto is showered with hospitality, and the President invites him back tomorrow. Next day, Yuuto is introduced to the club's venue, and is offered the opportunity to try out for a place on the team, a team that promises to match his own gusto and ambition to be the best cheerleader possible. However, he would have to dress as a girl, in the female costume, the same cute, bare-midriff cheer outfit that all the other ones are wearing. This puts Yuuto into an awful quandary. Should he give up on his dream of being a cheerleader, and walk away from the club, like his pseudo 'manly male' self is telling him to do so? Or should he follow a voice deep within his heart and spirit, a voice of truth that is telling him, after all this time, to accept that "he" is actually a girl inside, and to 'Come Out' as a trans girl, and take her place with the other team members as a proper and authentic female cheerleader?

"GLITTERY YELL" CHEER CLUB / Kiratto! Yell
A doujinshi retelling of a short story manga by Airi Mori.
(Story Note---Male designations will be used for the Main Character, Yuuto, for the first part of the story. After Yuuto dresses and presents in the female cheerleader costume, embellished male designations {'he', 'himself'} will be used, to indicate that an internal change is taking place within Yuuto. At the point in the story where Yuuto does a "Coming Out" to themselves confirming they have had a female Gender Identity, and they now will acknowledge a female Gender Expression, female designations will be used thereafter.)
Two things that Yuuto promised himself when he entered the Umitomi Academy---That he would fulfill his admiration of a manga story about an all-male cheer squad, and that he would "CHANGE(?)" himself during this school year.
As he walks through the Junior High School's hallways, dressed in the official boy's school uniform of the Umitomi Academy, Yuuto knows what he wants to do now that he has made it into this particular Junior High. However, it is not an academic pursuit that he wishes to fulfill. Not at all ! A famous manga story clenched in his arm and pressed to his chest reveals his entire ambition that he wants to accomplish in his first year at this prestigious and honored all-boys junior high school. The manga title is: Heat Things Up! It is a history and documentary of a famous all-male cheer club based at a prefecture high school, and a chronicle of all of the team's accomplishments and awards. Yuuto muses that he promised himself that he was "going to change (!?!)", if he made it into this famous all-boys school. And made it he did ! So, Yuuto tells himself that he will transition from boy to vibrant teenage male, and become a renowned male cheerleader, just like the characters did in the manga. Now to find the school's Cheer Club. It must be in the building on campus that houses all of the after school clubs and activities. And here it is ! The sign on the front door says, "Cheer Club". In the next few moments, Yuuto tells himself that he will enter this all important phase of his life as a real man !
"EXCUSE ME !", politely shouts Yuuto as he opens the door to the Cheer Club, and steps into a whole 'nother "alternate universe" !
Yuuta's first look at the Umitomi Academy All-Boy's Junior High School's Cheer Club !!! / Left to Right: Sumire (Violet), Tsubaki (Camellia), Asagao (Morning Glory)
Now in the clubroom, Yuuto is speechless, as his face begins to turn a pale shade of red with embarrassment ! He fervently tells himself that this is......an all-boy's school, right? Dumbfounded, he can only stare at the female cheerleaders in abject silence. Finally, a blue-eyed blonde and extremely attractive teenage girl, dressed in the cheerleader costume's official school colors, approaches Yuuto, asking him if he is a new student to the school? "Yes!", answers Yuuto, silently thinking to himself what a pretty girl this cheerleader is (she is actually the President of the Cheer Club and the Captain of the team) ! WOW ! His embarrassment soon deepens to bright red, triggered by her awesome cuteness. Stumbling over words that he can't get out, Yuuto finally manages to choke out the question; if this is the Cheer Club, right? That's right, intones the pretty girl as she flashes a warm smile ! So, then, what's with all those girls over there?
"Everyone here is a guy, more or less!" Top Panel: Left to Right / Tsubaki (Camellia), Asagao (Morning Glory), Yuri (Lily).
"Those girls over there? EVERYONE HERE IS A "GUY", more or less !!!", answers the pretty blonde cheerleader. She goes on to say that the team has a few that are regular non-binary guys, a couple or so are cross-dressers, one is a gender-bender, but almost half of the cheer squad is made up of trans girls.
"WE ARE UMITOMI ACADEMY'S FAMOUS AND LONG-STANDING JUNIOR HIGH ALL-BOY'S ......CHEER CLUB, THE GLITTERY YELL !!!"
Yuuto is frozen, raked with silence, as all color drains from his face as it goes blank. His eyes become hollow, and his mind goes numb in astonishment and disbelief. He becomes a motionless, soulless statue of himself for a while, until he somehow manages to turn and head for the door. As he goes, Yuuto apologizes, saying that there must have been some sort of mistake......he then feels a hand on his shoulder, as a bold but friendly female voice says---
"WAIT ! SINCE YOU ARE ALREADY HERE, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE A LOOK AROUND, AREN'T YOU ?"
Yuuto turns, and with dull gray eyes, a 'deer caught in the headlights' look upon his face, and an aura of 'abandon all hope all ye who enter The Twilight Zone' gripping his mind and emotions, he meekly squeaks out a hapless.......'yes'.......! Actually, Yuuto is treated like royalty, being ushered into the clubroom with proper ceremony and respect. A chair of honor is brought to him; he is seated at a small covered table with a view of the entire team, and a visual tour of the nicely and richly furnished clubroom. After a brief respite, he begins to compose himself. Yuuto silently 'takes it all in', as he thinks to himself how inappropriate all of this is for a traditional all-boy's school ! The girls are all dressed the same, in the official female cheerleader's bare-midriff, mini-skirted costumes, in the official school's colors. One girl is going through the motions of a routine of some sort, another girl is innocently clinging to a huge animal plushie, and a third girl is touching up her makeup with a compact mirror. He notices the flower garland decorations that ring the whole room along the upper part of the walls. Such feminine decorations ! He smells a sweet, dreamy waft of pleasantness. Such a feminine scent in the whole room, not like the sweaty stink of a typical boy's locker room ! Soon, a caring girl hostess formally serves him a cup of black tea. Such feminine hospitality ! All of this is not even one tiny bit manly !
The President of the Cheer Club, Rozu Ki (Yellow Rose) formally introduces herself to Yuuto.
The blue-eyed blonde cheerleader approaches. Yuuto-kun, right ? Uh, huh ! She introduces herself as the President of the Glittery Yell Cheer Club. Her name is Rozu Ki (Yellow Rose). She asks him why he was going to join the Cheer Club ? Yuuto mumbles that it is not like he has decided or anything like that right now. Almost as an afterthought, Yuuto mentions if the blonde girl has heard of an old manga called, "Heat Things Up!", about a hot-blooded all-male cheering squad? She says that she had read that manga herself, some time ago. Yuuto fervently states that he admires cool guys like that. Like how they are shown in the manga, able to cheer and motivate a lot of people to do their best. " Hmmmm....", ponders the girl. Soon, the bell rings, indicating the end of the club session. The girl tells Yuuto for the two of them to end their conversation for today, right here and now. One by one, the girls retire to an adjacent locker room, where they change out of their cheer costumes, and change back into the male school uniform. One by one, the guys (or the trans girls masquerading as 'guys') leave the locker room, go back through the clubroom, and go out into the hallway. One asks their friend if they want to go get a beef bowl after school today? Sounds good ! Yuuto becomes fidgety and sweaty, with a bit of drool running down the side of his mouth.
"Seriously, what is up with these 'guys' ???"
THE NEXT DAY
At about the regular daily time that the Cheer Club allows visitors in the clubroom, Yuuto is once again fretfully standing in front of the clubroom door, mentally wrestling with himself over something. Just before he left the clubroom yesterday, the blue-eyed blonde President of the Cheer Club, now wearing the male school uniform, wearing glasses and masquerading as a 'male' student, approached him and warmly invited him to attend today's practice session, to actually see the team in action. Yuuto, then still confused and mesmerized by the girls, squeaked out a feeble 'yes', that he would attend. And in the end, he came again today.......here he is, ready to open the door and enter the clubroom. However, the 'manly male' voice inside of him is razzing him to just walk away, Just Do It ! Yet, that other tiny voice, deep within his heart and soul, is reminding him that he promised himself that he was "going to change" ! And right before him, this room with all the girl cheerleaders, right here, is crying out for him to enter, and begin his all important 'change' !
Prophetically placing his hand on the door knob, Yuuto silently assures his 'manly self' that this will absolutely be the last time he will ever come here ! Ever ! He enters and announces, "Good Morning!" to all. A gaggle of girls, already dressed in their cheer costumes, excitedly announce to everyone that, "YUUTO-KUN IS HERE !!!" One girl with a huge black bow in her hair tactfully leads Yuuto to his honored seat, and sits him down. Another girl with long, sparkly white hair (the makeup artist for the team, her name is Rozu Shiroi {White Rose}), greets Yuuto, and coyly remarks that he has such a soft, pretty skin tone. She respectfully requests that he close his eyes, and not move, talk, or do anything. Yuuto silently wonders to himself what are they going to do to him ? Some sort of club hazing ? That must be it ! Nevertheless, he complies. In relatively short period of time, he feels a myriad of different touches and feels on his face and hair. Nothing scary or unnerving. Just different. His heart tells him not to worry, this will turn out for the good. Finally, he hears an "All right, all done!" He is then told to open his eyes.
Yuuto's face is now that of a pretty teenage girl, with her hair in erotic twin tails !
Yuuto gets the shock and surprise of his life, as he is given a hand mirror to look into. The 'manly man', the vibrant teenage male with the rugged face and demure, HAS HAD THEIR FACE TRANSFORMED INTO THAT OF A BEAUTIFUL, ATTRACTIVE TEENAGE GIRL !!! Yuuto now has huge, 'anime girl' eyes, with long, sexy eyelashes, and provocative eyebrows. His facial skin is smooth and delicate, radiating a soft glow of warmth. His hair has been done up in a fashionable pixie cute, with attractive front bangs, and prominent, erotic TWIN TAILS, held with huge black bows. The gaggle of girls are all going nuts, with comments and expressions of how lovely, pretty, and attractive this brand new girl is !!! One girl suggests that Yuuto would look so good with pretty nail polish. The President comes by and gives Yuuto a 'two thumbs up'!
The President also has a rectangle cardboard box with her; inside are several cellophane packages of various items. She tells Yuuto that in the box is a brand new cheer costume, complete with all the pieces, so go and change into it ! The locker room is right through that door. Nobody is in there right now, so go for it. Just Do It ! , the President orders ! Yuuto is gently pushed to and through the door. Inside the locker room, Yuuto opens the box, then begins opening all the clear plastic wraps, one by one. Without thinking about much of anything, he slowly undresses and slips out of his male school uniform.
Yuuto changes into the female cheer costume. She struggles to get the top over her training bra. She then has trouble getting the zipper on the mini-skirt to work.
One package has the cheer costume sleeveless top. Another plastic sleeve contains a white training bra. Is it okay for me to wear this; Yuuto questions himself? A voice in the back of his mind tells him that this is, in fact, okay, as this is going to be the "change" that he has always told himself about. Really ? Fer real ? There is a package of white girl's panties, and a package of the cheer costume's cream colored buruma (the cover garment that covers over one's actual underwear panties). Blimey, girl's panties, too ??? Instantly the voice in his mind pops up with a mantra, and begins repeating it over and over, thereby guaranteeing that there will be no turning back now. The repeating mantra---"Quitters Never Win, and Winners Never Quit !" Therefore, he obediently puts on the panties, then the buruma over the panties. Next is the training bra, then the sleeveless cheer top. Then there is the pleated mini-skirt. He struggles with the side zipper, fretting at how incredibility short the skirt is. Hardly covers the bottom of the buruma. Next are the knee-high socks and girl's athletic shoes. After what seems like hours, Yuuto is now an officially dressed Glittery Yell female cheerleader.
"Is this okay?", asks Yuuto.
Stepping through the door back into the clubroom, Yuuto meekly asks no one in particular if 'he' looks okay? Several of the girls give 'him' a 'once over' and pronounce that 'he' looks good. Yuuto speculates to 'himself' that the club might only be nothing more than a cross-dressers club. 'He' fusses and frets that this change is so different from the original male infused change that 'he' had promised 'himself'. Viva la difference. At the beginning, 'he' only wanted to cheer as a part of a male cheer squad. Yuuto silently tells 'himself' that if it has come down to this, 'he' should properly refuse to join this cheer club, after all. At that moment, the door to the cheer club swings open, and a very excited and fretful male teenage member of the soccer club bursts into the clubroom---
"EXCUSE ME! IS CLUB PRESIDENT ROZU KI (YELLOW ROSE) HERE ?"
From across the room, the President asks if he is from the soccer club, and what is the matter ? The distraught boy says that there is a soccer match going on right now. The opposing team has their male cheerleaders in play, but didn't the Unitomi Cheer Club get word that the game was moved up to today? Nobody is cheering for the Umitomi boys, and the game is going badly for them. Could you come right now and cheer for us? It is half-time right now, so if you hurry, you can be there for the second half.
"I understand.", remarks the President. Then turning to the girls in the clubroom, the President gives out the 'Battle Cry' !
"COME ON, GIRLS! LET'S SHOW THAT BOY'S CHEER SQUAD THE AWESOMENESS OF WHAT THE UMITOMI GIRLS CAN DO, AND SHOW THEM ALL THAT WE'VE GOT !!! LET'S GO GIRLS !!! THIS WILL BE A MATTER OF DO OR DIE TRYING !!!"
Like a stampede of angry bulls, the thundering herd of girls blasts out of the clubroom and toward the outside soccer field. Two cheer girls approach Yuuto, and with both latching onto Yuuto's arms, begin dragging 'him' backwards as they go forward out the clubroom door. "WHY AM I GOING, TOO ???", screams Yuuto !
Out on the sidelines of the soccer field, the President faces towards and surveys her squad of "Glittery Yell Battle Maidens", ready for some high-powered action and adventure ! Yuuto is standing a little ways away from the President, and also facing the squad. Yuuto is beet red with embarrassment, and a tear is dripping from 'his' eye. Why is 'he' outside with the team, and to make matters worse, dressed like this ? Meanwhile, the President ponders to herself, saying that she sees why the soccer team is in such a tight spot. She then commands her troops with today's "Battle Plan" !
"Let's warm up by doing three or four regular team cheer routines ! THEN---
" Ume (Apricot) and Asagao (Morning Glory) ! Break out and run through several of those one-handed lifts that you two have been practicing. The ones like you see pair skaters do on the ice !"
"Next, the Volare Squad ! Launch little Yuri (Lily) like she is going to the moon ! But give her a gentle splashdown when she reenters Earth's gravity !"
"Ground Forces ! After Yuri (Lily) touches down, do that dance routine that looks like synchronized swimmers. Do it in perfect unity, like the nine of you are moving as one ! Include the overhead lifts, too ! When you lift me, I will do my stationary Biellmann ! Tsubaki (Camellia), when you simultaneously go up alongside me, do your Arabesque !"
"LET'S CHEER FOR OUR UNITOMI BOYS WITH EVERYTHING WE'VE GOT !!!"
Yuuto finds themselves 'front row center' for the performance. Not ten minuets had gone by, when the audience's attention was redirected from the boy's cheer team, as well as the opposing team's soccer boys, to what the now energetic Unitomi Girl's Cheer Team was doing. The Unitomi boy's soccer team immediately caught the girl's spirit, too, and it was as if the game exploded with a new power and determination. Soon, the Unitomi soccer team scored a goal, and tied the game.

Yuuto was awestruck and godsmacked at the amazing performance the cheerleader girls were doing. It was on the same level, NO, actually better than the Heat Things Up boys did in the manga ! The President could be heard screaming---
"ALL RIGHT GIRLS ! ONE GOAL DOWN ! LET'S KEEP GOING WITH EVEN MORE SPIRIT !!!"
Yuuto continued to look on with awe and wonder. Then suddenly, like a lightening bolt, a realization strikes 'him', and electrifies 'his' thinking and understanding. 'His' mind, heart, soul, and spirit unite to tell 'him' in a clear, unmistakable voice, and with a solemn and profound oath, that---
"No matter how they are dressed, these girls especially, if they are cheering on people with all they've got, this is no different from the "Heat Things Up" Cheer Squad that I have always admired ! (Yuuto clenches 'his' fists in determination, 'he' now has fire in 'his' eyes) I have found what I was looking for all this time ! A real live Cheer Spirit, right here and now with these girls ! I want that spirit, too ! I WANT TO BE THE GIRL I ALWAYS KNEW DEEP DOWN THAT I WAS !!! I AM GOING TO CHANGE RIGHT HERE AND NOW !!! I AM "COMING OUT" TO MYSELF AS THE AUTHENTIC GIRL THAT I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HIDING !!! I WILL BE A FINE TRANS GIRL, AND TAKE MY RIGHTFULLY EARNED PLACE WITH THE OTHER TRANS GIRLS ON THIS AWESOME CHEER TEAM !!!"
Within moments of that silent proclamation that Yuuto bound herself with, another goal is scored by the Unitomi boys. A rousing cheer goes up from the audience, as well as the girl cheerleaders, as that goal put Unitomi ahead ! A minute later, the ending buzzer sounded, and the game announcer belts out that Unitomi Junior High wins the soccer match, 2-1 ! All hell breaks loose as the entire crowd screams with a congratulatory voice for the Unitomi boys. Some time later, as the soccer boys go back to their respective locker rooms, and the audience begins to empty the stands, the President is going around personally congratulating every member of the cheer team on their fantastic and mind-boggling performance today. Done on such short notice, too !
After the President finishes with her accolades, a very embarrassed and humble Yuuto approaches her. 'Quaking in her boots', and with so many emotions and feelings assaulting her at this moment, Yuuto fights to get the words out. Yet, inside of her that same female voice is cheering her on, to speak to the President all that is on her mind, heart, and spirit ! Her internal voice is pondering if she, herself, could possibly help do all that she has seen done today, too? The President asks Yuuto what she wants ? "Such amazing cheering, how could I express that?", frets Yuuto to herself. Several other girls notice that Yuuto is trying to say something to the President, and form a ring around the two. Yuuto gathers up every last ounce of her courage, and fervently pleads---
Yuuto does a "Coming Out" to the team, and asks to be admitted to the cheer squad !
" I....Is it okay if I try and do my very best.....and try out as......as a member of the cheer squad, too ?"
All is silent, until the President flashes a shy smile. Then the President, as well as all the girls, shout---
"OF COURSE !!! LET'S ALL DO OUR VERY BEST TOGETHER !!!"
Yuuto is silent, and quite taken aback by the whole-hearted response of the girls. However, that now persistant voice inside of herself is once again shouting at her. The voice is telling her that this is the "CHANGE" that she has promised herself for such a long time. And she will change.....that is, begin transitioning from male to female, at least in the cheer club for now, and do what she has always wanted to do---CHEER FOR OTHER PEOPLE, BUT NOW AS AN HONORED TRANS GIRL CHEERLEADER !
The girls are slowly walking back to the school buildings in a group, back to the clubroom with their newest girl member, Yuuto. A teenage boy from the soccer audience tactfully approaches Yuuto and comes up to her. The boy himself is very much embarrassed, nevertheless, he speaks to Yuuto. He softly mentions that he is so, so infatuated with her, seeing her for the first time today, so very alluring and captivating with her inane cuteness, and that he just has to know more about her. Therefore, will she please accept his e-mail address and social media avatar and links, so that the two of them can get to know each other better? He hands a small postcard to Yuuto. She accepts it, thanking the boy for his interest in her. A gaggle of girls overhearing the interlude between the two begin to chuckle and giggle over this romantic interlude that is occurring right before their eyes ! The boy slowly backs away, as Yuuto is again caught in a quandary regarding the cheer club. The group resumes their walk. To think that there would be a group of girls that are like a lovely, blooming field of flowers (the team members all have girl names taken from the names of flowers).....this at an all-boy's school ? This is an all-boy's school, right ?!?!? As she walks into the clubroom, Yuuto silently tells herself that---
"I kind of feel like ...... I made a mistake today, after all ...... The mistake ? I SHOULD HAVE "CHANGED" AND COME OUT AS A GIRL A LONG TIME AGO !!!"
